I. The wedding

The gown came first

The gown came first: a pink vintage Chanel, runway-worn by Claudia Schiffer, found and secured long before a date existed. The commission was to build a Paris evening worthy of it — rooms, light, flowers and paper composed in the gown's own register, nothing louder than the dress.

The bride wished the celebration private until she chose otherwise. When she did, Vogue told the story — in six editions.

A production measured in fittings

A production measured in fittings as much as in floor plans: the gown's conservation set the temperature of the rooms, the length of the processional, even the hour of the photographs. The house directed every artisan around a single object and a single idea, and handled the press on the family's terms — which is why the coverage reads like a portfolio, not an exposure.
